Meet Dr. Witcher
Dr. John Witcher's upbringing in a Christian household has deeply influenced his core values. His parents were devout Christians who lived their lives centered around the Church. Dr. Witcher shares their beliefs in ministry and missions, and actively serves on the board of Salt and Light Honduras while traveling there each year for medical missions. He also serves as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Fannin.
Growing up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Dr. Witcher attended St. Martin School and graduated in 1984. He is a seventh-generation Mississippian on both sides of his family, with roots in Yazoo City and Tupelo.
After starting his career as an electrical engineer managing multi-million dollar projects, Dr. Witcher decided to go back to school to become a doctor. He graduated from medical school in 1995 and has worked as a family physician and ER doctor in underserved areas throughout Mississippi for the past 25 years.

As a young physician, Dr. Witcher founded Mississippi Physician Services, a healthcare company that provided staffing for ER physicians and primary care clinics in many of the underserved areas he worked in.
Dr. Witcher is a devoted husband to Brooke, and a loving father to 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Protecting families and children and providing safe and wholesome learning environments is essential for success in our state.
Dr. Witcher believes in business and wants to create an environment that is attractive to small businesses and industries. He believes that supporting law enforcement and promoting respect for careers in law enforcement is vital to promoting business growth and development. He is also passionate about education and believes that giving parents a choice in their children's education is in the best interest of their future.
As Governor, Dr. Witcher will prioritize protecting patients' rights and pushing back against federal mandates. He believes that every Mississippian has the fundamental rights of a Patient Bill of Rights, informed consent, and free speech. He will work to restore the doctor/patient relationship and remove the federal government from interfering in medical decisions.
