Brian Flowers takes his oath of office very seriously. In Deuteronomy 23:21, God is very specific about swearing oaths: “When thou shalt vow a vow unto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the Lord thy God will surely require it of thee; and it [failure to fulfil the vow] would be sin in thee.” There is no greater promise that a man can make: A vow unto God is a Real Promise, indeed!
A Congressman’s oath to support and defend the U.S. Constitution is made to God Almighty, because he places his left hand on the Bible, raises his right hand and speaks the oath, which ends with the words, “so help me God.”
The letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution establishes a compact between the States to establish a federal government with only few specific powers and duties. The States, individually, and the people thereof retained to themselves all the powers not granted to the federal government. Thus, the Constitution leaves individuals and local communities with the most power, followed by the States, and then the federal government, bringing up the rear. Based on what the federal government has been doing for the last one-hundred-plus years, you might find these facts hard to believe, but they are true, nonetheless.
If an elected official doesn’t understand that the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution, he should not be in office– should not even run for office! And for the sake of his soul, he should not swear an oath unto God that he will abide by and support the letter and spirit of the Constitution if he is actually unwilling to do so. Make sense?
In former Congressman Larry P. McDonald’s 1976 book, We Hold These Truths, the author states that he and many other congressmen in office at that time estimated that 80% of all federal legislation passed (at that time) was un-Constitutional. Anyone who knows the letter and spirit of the Constitution must know that things have not improved since 1976! If McDonald’s estimate is true, and we believe it is, over half of the Congressmen sent to Washington over many decades have been oath breakers. A man that would break an oath to God Almighty is capable of anything! There is no limit to the evil he can do and the havoc he can create, and isn’t that exactly what we witness in America today– evil and havoc? Have you been voting for on oath breaker, election after election? Probably. Please stop!
Brian Flowers will be among the small but growing number of Congressmen that honor their oath. Brian is a God-fearing, Christian man. The Second District of Mississippi and all of America deserve nothing less than oath keepers, although much of America has been represented by oath breakers– Democrat and Republican– for a very long time.
